This fine specimen belongs to one of my favorite genres- old yard work furniture. A Texas live oak branch had to come down in the back yard. Rather than letting the bugs eat it, I stripped the bark, let it dry, and turned it into this. It measures approximately 19(h) x 19(w) x 14(d).”

Keepsake box with a smaller box inside that has tiny little dovetails.
What to do with all those scraps from previous pieces? Why not pretend you live in the Victorian era and spend an inordinate amount of time making a flower press for your child? That’s what I did. I even used my treadle lathe to turn the knobs and the shaft.
This is a lovely ottoman or stool made of ash and danish cord. Its perfect for resting your weary feet and it measures 16(h) x 16(w) x 13(d).

This is a similar bench to one I made previously. What’s different about this one is that it’s made out of walnut and ash, and it can float in the air.
A white oak folding table. The breadboard ends are quarter sawn so you can see all the pretty ray fleck. I’ve made a few of these so far, but this one is my favorite.
I wanted to learn how to turn wood so I built my own treadle lathe. I hate power tools because they are dangerous and expensive- two qualities I try to minimize in my life. This is made out of cheap yellow pine and the wheel is hand painted with trippy designs.
This yellow fellow came to me old, broken, and a little ugly. It was headed for the campfire. It took more work than it was really worth, but we might get another fifty years out of it. It still smells great.
This is a very heavy coffee table made out of a really old plank of red cedar (I think), with a white oak undercarriage. The plank was used as some sort of work surface for more than 100 years, as you can see saw marks and forged nails still embedded. I took out all the …
